Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that he secured $5,000 in state funding for new equipment at the Amityville Library.

The library will use the funding to purchase a scanner for patron use. The scanner will allow patrons to easily scan a variety of materials, including letters, photographs, business forms, and school books. The equipment will also be beneficial to residents affected by Superstorm Sandy, who must often scan documents for their insurance companies or federal and state agencies.

“Libraries offer a wide variety of technology services to residents. Purchasing a scanner will allow the library to offer additional services to the Amityville community and improve convenience for its patrons,” said Senator Fuschillo.

“On behalf of the Amityville Library, I wish to extend our appreciation to Senator Fuschillo for his efforts to obtain New York State funding on our behalf. The Library looks forward to offering our patrons an option to easily scan their materials. Many people do not have a scanner in their homes, or need assistance in using a scanner. With Senator Fuschillo’s assistance, we will be able to offer this service to our patrons,” said Amityville Library Director Nora Schual.
