Senator Fuschillo & Comptroller Dinapoli to Help Residents Search for Unclaimed Funds on March 28th in Copiague

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) and New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli will be sponsoring a free program in Copiague to help residents find out if they are entitled to any of the $11 billion in New York State unclaimed funds.

     The program will take place on Thursday, March 28th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Tanner Park Senior Center, located on Baylawn Avenue in Copiague. Representatives from the State Comptroller’s Office will be available to help residents search for unclaimed funds in their name, as well as answer questions and provide guidance on how they can file a claim for any unclaimed funds to which they may be entitled.

     Unclaimed funds are monies such as un-cashed checks, old bank accounts, wages, utility deposits, and stocks and dividends that people have left dormant or forgotten about. State law requires banks, utilities, and many other businesses and companies to turn over these inactive accounts to the State Comptroller’s Office, which holds the funds in trust until they can be reclaimed by their rightful owner.

     The program is free of charge and open to everyone. No appointments are necessary.
