Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated Freeport resident George N. Boulukos on receiving the prestigious Silver Buffalo Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

The Silver Buffalo Award, scouting’s highest commendation, is a national award for distinguished service to youth. It is awarded only to individuals who give truly noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on a national level.

“George Boulukos has devoted 60 years of his life to scouting, promoting the ideals it stands for, and serving as a mentor for young scouts. He is more than worthy to join the elite class of individuals who have earned this prestigious award. I congratulate him on this well-deserved honor and thank him for his many years of service,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Mr. Boulukos, who was born and raised in Merrick, is the first Greek-American to receive this prestigious award. He joins an elite group of recipients, including: Charles Lindbergh, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Yogi Berra, Bob Hope, Walt Disney, General Colin Powell, Bill Gates, and 14 United States presidents.
