Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently held a veterans appreciation breakfast as a way to say “thank you” to the veterans in his Senate district.

“We can never thank our veterans enough for their service to our country and community. This event is a small way to show our appreciation and admiration for the local heroes who defended our freedom. I am pleased so many veterans were able to participate,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Senator Fuschillo began the event by welcoming the veterans and thanking them for serving our country. Members of the Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band performed renditions of the official songs of each armed services branch and the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus performed the National Anthem. Scouts from the Girl Scouts of Nassau County served as a color guard and also helped serve breakfast to the veterans. Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) served as the event’s guest speaker.

Senator Fuschillo, Congressman King, and Assemblyman David McDonough (R-Merrick) also gave special recognition to Freeport resident Stephen Nicolino, who was recently named to the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame by Senator Fuschillo.

Veterans were also provided with information about different veterans’ recognition programs. Veterans who were unable to attend Senator Fuschillo’s veterans breakfast but would like copies of this information can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
