Senator Fuschillo Invites Residents to View Online Hispanic Heritage Exhibit as Part of Hispanic Heritage Month

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is inviting residents to view an online exhibit celebrating the contributions of Latino artists to the arts and culture of New York State as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
“New York’s Hispanic community has produced world class artists and made significant contributions to our culture. This exhibit celebrates these contributions, and I invite residents to explore the exhibit and learn more about these extraordinary men and women,” said Senator Fuschillo.
The “Celebrating Hispanic Culture/Celebrando Nuestra Cultura Hispana” exhibit features 10 Hispanic New Yorkers who have had a significant impact on the state’s cultural landscape. In addition the featured artist biographies, the exhibit describes Latino contributions in dance, music, literature, theatre, and film.
Hispanic New Yorkers featured in the exhibit include:
o Chita Rivera - Tony Award-winning actress
o Willie Colón - Grammy Award-winning musician and community activist
o Rubén Blades - Grammy Award-winning musician and political activist
o Lin-Manuel Miranda - Tony Award-winning playwright, actor & composer
o Quiara Alegria Hudes - Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and playwright
o Celia Cruz - Grammy Award winning-singer and dancer.
o Héctor Lavoe - Famed singer & musical trailblazer
o Tito Puente - Grammy Award-winning musical legend
o Tina Ramirez - Award winning choreographer and founder of Ballet Hispanico
