Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently served as a guest reader to Ms. Vigna’s first grade class at Birch Elementary School as part of Birch’s annual Community Read-In Day.
Senator Fuschillo read America Is by Louise Borden and Stacey Schuett to the class. The book illustrates the different parts of America and teaches children to celebrate the people, places, and principles which make our country great.
Senator Fuschillo also spoke to the children about his job as a New York State Senator and how laws are made.
“I really enjoyed reading to Ms. Vigna’s class. Reading is a skill which will benefit children throughout their lives, which is why it is so important for them to develop their love of reading. It was so nice to see how excited and enthusiastic the students were about the story. I thank them for allowing me to visit their class,” said Senator Fuschillo.
