Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with local residents and veterans to support the 1,000 participants of the annual Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride.

Senator Fuschillo saluted the riders at the kick-off ceremony held at Babylon Town Hall. Senator Fuschillo then joined with members of the VFW Post 7223 and the Amityville Historical Society in cheering on the riders as they passed through downtown Amityville on their way to Overlook Beach.

“The servicemen and women who made such extraordinary sacrifices in defense of our freedom deserve our respect and gratitude. The Town of Babylon’s annual Wounded Warrior Ride is a wonderful way for the community to support these heroes and show its appreciation for their brave and heroic service,” said Senator Fuschillo.

The riders included wounded veterans from the U.S. and U.K. armed forces along with local residents who rode to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Wounded Warrior’s Project’s Soldier Ride is a rehabilitative cycling program for severely injured service men and women. All donations raised through ride are used for programs supporting injured service personnel. They include advocacy, counseling and family support for returning veterans, many of whom have experienced life-changing injuries.
