Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with the Integrated Medical Foundation and Bostwick Laboratories, recently sponsored a free prostate cancer screening program at the Masapequa Library.
Men who participated in the program received a free prostate cancer screening and a PSA blood test, regardless of whether or not they had insurance. The screenings were performed by Dr. Michael Dourmashkin, MD of Advanced Urology of New York.
Prostate Cancer is the most common form of cancer among men, after skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.
“Early detection greatly improves the chances of successfully treating prostate cancer, which is why it is so important for men to be safe and get screened. I thank the Integrated Medical Foundation and Bostwick Laboratories for once again partnering with me to provide this service to the community,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Men who were unable to take advantage of the program but would like more information about getting a free prostate cancer screening can call the Integrated Medical Foundation at 631-247-0100.
