Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with the Integrated Medical Foundation and Bostwick Laboratories, recently sponsored a free prostate cancer screening program at the Bellmore Library.
Men who participated in the program received a free prostate cancer screening, regardless of whether or not they had insurance. The screenings were performed by Dr. Eric Thall, MD of Advanced Urology Centers of New York-Rockville Centre.
Prostate Cancer is the most common form of cancer among men, after skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.
“I am so pleased that we are able to provide this important health service for men,” said Senator Fuschillo. “Early detection is vital in any cancer treatment and it is wonderful to see so many residents take advantage of this free screening program,” Senator Fuschillo said.
Men who were unable to take advantage of the program but would like more information about getting a free prostate cancer screening can call the Integrated Medical Foundation at 631-247-0100.
