Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently sponsored a “Shed the Meds” program in Copiague where residents dropped off several hundred pounds of medication for safe disposal.
Senator Fuschillo’s “Shed the Meds” program enabled residents to safely and conveniently dispose of their expired or unused medications. Residents were able to drive up, drop off their expired or unwanted medications, and drive away. All medications collected through the program were taken by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for safe disposal. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Senator Fuschillo in offering this service to residents.
“’Shed the Meds’ enabled residents to safely dispose of their medications, prevent pollution, and keep these medications out of the wrong hands. Thanks to everyone who participated, we were able to collect several hundred pounds of unwanted medications for safe disposal,” said Senator Fuschillo.
