Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced today that he will be partnering with the New York State Police to sponsor a free child safety seat check on Saturday, March 16th in Farmingdale.
The free car seat safety check will be held from 9 am to 1 pm at the State Police Troop L Headquarters, located at 7140 Republic Airport in Farmingdale, just off of Route 110. Officers from the New York State Police will be performing free safety seat inspections to make sure that drivers have their children’s car seats properly installed and secured.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children in the United States, but placing children in properly installed age and size appropriate safety seats reduces serious and fatal injuries by more than half, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Appointments for free car seat safety checks will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. To schedule an appointment, please call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
