ALBANY -- State Senator Daniel Squadron, the Senate sponsor of the New York City Hurricane Sandy Assessment Relief Act, is urging the Senate to immediately pass the legislation, which would provide vital property tax relief to New Yorkers whose homes or businesses were severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
Squadron released this statement following Assembly passage of the bill:
"Around our city, New Yorkers are still struggling to rebuild their homes and businesses in the wake of Sandy's catastrophic damage.
"By providing tax relief to New Yorkers whose property was severely impacted by Sandy, our bill will allow them -- and our city -- to rebuild and again thrive.
"Thank you to Speaker Silver for his leadership. I urge my colleagues on the Cities Committee and the full Senate to follow the Assembly and pass the NYC Hurricane Sandy Assessment Relief Act now."
