In keeping with annual tradition to commemorate our beloved Stars and Stripes, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) today announced that his office has once again launched a Flag Retirement Program to coincide with the celebration of Flag Day. This is an opportunity for Rockland and Westchester residents to donate any aged, torn, or damaged American flags in their possession to ensure that these flags are retired through an official ceremony. All American flags collected will be distributed throughout various American Legion Posts and VFW Halls throughout his district, many who routinely collect these flags and perform ceremonies themselves.
"Our American Flag is a proud symbol that reminds all of us of our cherished national pastime and those who fought to defend it since our nation's birth," said Senator Carlucci. "This program, which I begun as a Town Clerk, provides the chance for residents to show their respect by retiring each one in a respectful and deserving manner."
Residents wishing to take part in this program can drop off their flags at either Senator Carlucci’s Rockland District Office, located at 95 South Middletown Road in Nanuet. Those on the other side of the Hudson River can drop off flags at the Senator's Westchester District Office, located at 2 Church Street, Ossining.
