Last week was the inaugural opening of the new and improved meeting room featuring the first in a five film series celebrating Jewish American heritage. The Director of the Library, Mitch Freedman, was on hand and presented the Senator with a plaque thanking him for his efforts in front of a packed house. The $25,000 grant allowed the library to purchase a new state of the art speaker system, a digitally controlled video projector and a new wiring system for the equipment.
Senator Carlucci thanked the crowd for attending the inaugural event, “Libraries are more than just a place to come and read a great book. Today, they have become a nexus where people throughout the community come to congregate and share ideas. That’s why I made it a priority to fight hard in the State Senate to secure funding for these types of institutions. I will continue to push for more funding in the next budget so that we can continue to make sound investments while offsetting the costs for local property taxpayers.”
Library Director Mitch Freedman echoed the Senators sentiments, "We have such a special library here in New City. We are fortunate to have a Senator who is focused on making local institutions like the New City Library a priority in Albany. Thanks to the Senator's support we were able to provide audio and video equipment in the Library meeting room at minimal cost to the New City taxpayer. The proof of the pudding was the wealth of compliments about the movie from the people who attended the first program, a presentation that would have not been possible without the Senator's support."
The next film in the series, Watermarks, will be screened on Thursday October 17th starting at 1:00 pm.
