Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) has been included on the list of the New York Farm Bureau’s annual “Circle of Friends.” The award indicates Senator Maziarz support of agriculture and the Farm Bureau during the past year.
“I am honored to earn this award from the Farm Bureau,” Senator Maziarz said. “Agriculture remains our state’s number one industry and we must make sure that is not forgotten in the halls of our government. I will continue to advocate for sound policies that support family farms, agriculture, agri-tourism, and related enterprises.
“Less than half of the members of the Legislature are on this list,” Senator Maziarz said, “so we are still in the minority. That means we have more work to do to influence our colleagues in the future.”
The “Circle of Friends” honor is based on each legislator’s voting record on issues of agricultural importance, as well as other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that New York Farm Bureau has either supported or opposed during the most recent legislative session.
Dean Norton, President of New York Farm Bureau, said, “The selected lawmakers from both the Assembly and Senate were chosen for their commitment to the hard working farm families in New York. Each friend has demonstrated that they understand the importance of agriculture to the people of their legislative district, and how farming significantly impacts the economy of this great state.”
