(Bronx, NY) – With school out and summer in full swing, Senator Gustavo Rivera encourages kids to enjoy summer reading and invites all fourth through sixth graders in the Bronx to participate in the New York State Senate’s Summer Reading Program.
“It is easy for kids to get distracted during the summer and forget all about the skill they mastered during the school year. This program offers them a fun and interactive way of keeping their reading skills sharp,” said Senator Rivera.
Participating students can keep track of their reading accomplishments by cataloging their progress on an online reading journal. Those that submit a complete journal by the end of the summer will receive a Summer Reading Certificate from Senator Rivera and a bookmark.
