STATE SENATOR GUSTAVO RIVERA RELEASED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT ON FLOYD V. THE CITY OF NEW YORK RULING

“I am pleased that today’s court ruling recognized NYPD’s stop-and-frisk tactics for what they are – discriminatory and unconstitutional. While it is essential that we keep finding innovative ways of keeping our City safe, our efforts cannot be at the expense of New Yorkers’ civil rights. I am hopeful that the remedies put in place by today’s ruling will put an end to the discriminatory practices that have disproportionately violated the constitutional rights of thousands of minorities in New York.”
