State Senator Jack M. Martins, a strong advocate of community libraries, secured a grant for the Shelter Rock Public Library, located on Searingtown Road in Albertson.
Noting that that libraries serve the public as community, cultural and arts and information centers, Senator Martins was able to deliver $100,000 for capital improvements at the library.
“Libraries are vital to our communities here in the Seventh Senate District. They benefit the entire community by providing programs, materials and other invaluable services directly to our residents. Shelter Rock, as a wonderful library and community center, does just that,” Senator Martins said.
In a statement, the Shelter Rock Library Board said, “We want to thank Senator Martins for all of his efforts on behalf of the library.”
Last year, Senator Martins received on “A” grade by The New Yorkers For Better Libraries for his support of legislation that benefits libraries across New York State.
Shelter Rock Public Library is a special district library serving unincorporated areas of Albertson, New Hyde Park, Manhasset Hills, Roslyn Heights, and Garden City Park (Herricks UFSD, Mineola UFSD, East Williston UFSD).
