SCHOHARIE, 02/05/13 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today made a special budget presentation to school superintendents and board of education members from Schoharie County school districts. Assemblyman Pete Lopez (R/C/I-Schoharie) joined Senator Seward for the presentation which focused on the governor’s 2013-2014 budget proposal and its impact on rural school districts.
“Discussing budget issues with the education experts who deal with the reality of the numbers every day provides vital perspective,” said Senator Seward. “Last year, I successfully fought for added aid for low-wealth schools – the goal remains the same this year. As I meet with my colleagues and discuss the education budget I will continue to point to the need for aid formula changes that will ensure every student, regardless of demographics, receives a quality education,” Seward concluded.
Senator Seward is a member of several senate budget sub-committees including education.
