Seward: Governor’s New York State Tax Relief Commission Report Is Step In Right Direction
James L. Seward
December 10, 2013
ONEONTA, 12/10/13 - State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today commented on recommendations offered by the governor’s tax relief commission:
“Broad-based tax relief measures, that will make New York more economically competitive and ease the tax burden on hardworking individuals and families, are at the top of my priority list for 2014.
“My senate colleagues and I recently put forward a comprehensive tax reform plan that will make it easier for small businesses, growing families, and retirees to stay and thrive here at home. As I analyze the recommendations from the governor’s commission, I will be looking for areas of overlap with the senate plan and will work to swiftly advance these ideals when the legislature reconvenes next month.
“Sweeping tax cuts that improve affordability for homeowners and enhance our business climate are prime objectives I have been pursing for some time and several positive steps have been taken. Now, the new senate reform plan, coupled with the tax relief commission recommendations, will help advance the theme even further.”
