Majority Coalition Leader, IDC Conference Leader and State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) will announce “Affordable NY,” a bold new set of legislative proposals aimed at making New York affordable for working families. Affordable NY will reinvest $1.75 billion into programs, services, and tax credits that directly benefit working families and retirees.
With the cost of childcare, transportation, housing, health care and education rising, the Independent Democratic Conference’s set of legislative proposals offers targeted solutions to meet the increasing cost of living for families across New York.
Affordable New York proposals include a plan for paid family leave, a child care tax credit, a multifaceted approach to college affordability and Mitchell-Lama 2020, an updated version of the effective affordable housing program.
The announcement will include a video featuring real New York working families and an overview of the proposals benefit New York's middle class.
