CITY ISLAND, NY – This afternoon, Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined Pilot Cove Manor Residents and community leaders to commemorate the arrival of a new senior van for Pilot Cove Manor nursing facility, home to over 100 seniors.
Senator Klein said, “I am proud that working with the NYS Department of Transportation and Ms. Gallagher, we were able to replace Pilot Cove Manor’s previous van – a van that had been in use for over twenty years. This senior van provides a critical service to the seniors here at Pilot Cove and I am pleased that I was able to make sure that City Island’s seniors are transported safely and soundly.”
Pilot Cove Manor Manager, Virginia Gallagher said, “When Senator Klein gets involved in something, it always turns out successfully. This new van has opened up the world for seniors here at Pilot Cove Manor, by providing safe and comfortable transportation to doctors’ appointments and field trips, both on and off the island. On behalf of all of the residents at Pilot Cove Manor, we thank Senator Klein and his office for helping us throughout the process of acquiring our new senior van.”
Senator Klein helped Pilot Cove Manor apply to New York State’s Department of Transportation’s Section 5310 program that authorizes the DOT to provide capital-only funding for the transportation needs of the elderly and the disabled.
