ALBANY, NY – Senator Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) honored Bronx native and resident, Silvio Mazzella, at the New York Veterans Hall of Fame Ceremony for his service in the United States Marine Corps. After training in Paris Island, South Carolina, North Carolina, San Diego and Okinawa, he served in Vietnam.
Since his safe return, Mr. Mazzella has been a leader across numerous organizations, councils and community groups in the Bronx. Among them, Mr. Mazzella is a board member on Jacobi Medical Center’s Advisory Board and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Community Advisory Board. He has also been elected as Vice President of 49th Precinct Community Council. He is affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, Mary Queen of Peace Council, the American Legion, the Marine Corps League, the San Silverio Shrine of Dover Plains, the San Silverio of Morris Park and the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Senator Klein said: “It was my honor to induct Silvio Mazzella into the Veterans Hall of Fame. Throughout his life, whether serving our country or serving our community, Silvio has been a leader. I admire his courage and sense of duty to the United States, and, since his return, to the Bronx, where he continues to demonstrate his love of family, friends, neighbors and country. Congratulations, Silvio, and thank you for your service.”
Silvio Mazzella said: “It was my privilege to join Senator Klein in Albany today, standing alongside other servicemen and women, and be recognized for my service to this great country. I am blessed to share this honor with my friends and family and will continue to do what I can to make my community stronger, safer and better for generations to come.”
