Statement by Senate Co-Leader Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) on the Confirmation of Jenny Rivera to the New York State Court of Appeals

“On behalf of the Independent Democratic Conference, I want to extend my congratulations to Jenny Rivera on her confirmation to the New York State Court of Appeals. Given her strong character and wealth of experiences in public service, she will no doubt be a tremendous addition to our state’s highest court. Over the years, Jenny Rivera has built a distinguished record as an attorney who is both fair and committed to our country's most important legal principles. From her days as a law clerk for Justice Sonia Sotomayor, to her time as the Chief of the Civil Rights Bureau in New York State Attorney General’s Office, Jenny Rivera has been a beacon of light for social justice and diversity in our state. I am proud that this critical vacancy has now been filled by a fellow Bronxite—and constituent—who I know will bring remarkable intelligence, passion, and dedication to our state’s highest court.”
