Senator John A. DeFrancisco has announced that the New York state Legislature has restored funding cuts to protect people with developmental disabilities.
“When significant budget cuts for people with developmental disabilties were proposed earlier this year, I was very concerned about the impact that the cuts would have on those who live with developmental disabilities,” said Senator John A. DeFrancisco.
Some of the cuts were restored during the budget process, and commitments were made to target the reductions to administrative costs, rather than direct services. To the extent the administrative cuts are not sufficient to cover the remaining budget gap, the bill will completely restore funding for the disabled. Governor Cuomo has committed to sign the bill.
“I am pleased that the Legislature and Governor Cuomo were able to come to an agreement that will help some of our most vulnerable citizens to receive the services that they need,” said Senator DeFrancisco.
