Senator John A. DeFrancisco recognized Cadet Sergeant Brian Callahan, a Central New York West Point cadet, during West Point Day at the New York State Capitol. Callahan is a Syracuse native and a 2010 graduate of Bishop Grimes High School.
“All of these cadets are exceptional young men and women, but I am especially proud to honor Brian Callahan who is from Syracuse,” said Senator DeFrancisco. “Brian should be commended for his patriotism, dedication and strong commitment to our Nation. For Brian to answer the call to serve in this dangerous time is truly an inspiration to all of us.”
Callahan is in his third year at West Point majoring in mechanical engineering in the automotive track. He is a Squad Leader, Company B, 3rd Regiment, U.S. Corps of Cadets, where he leads 6 to 9 Cadets.
Callahan and several other cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point were acknowledged during today’s New York State Senate session. The Senate adopted a resolution in their honor.
Cadets and officers were invited to a private breakfast and luncheon at the Capitol, and were also honored by the New York State Assembly.
This year marks the 61st annual West Point Day at the New York State Capitol.
