Senator Bonacic is pleased to announce that Governor Cuomo signed into law a bill he cosponsored, that expands a portion of the state highway system designated as the Shawangunk East Wine Trail to include new wineries. This law will greatly help boost tourism in the area.
“New York’s wine industry has been booming over the past several years, and here in Orange County we’ve seen new wineries and vineyards steadily growing,” Senator Bonacic said. “The Shawangunk East Wine Trail has already experienced a tremendous amount of success, helping Hudson Valley wineries attract wine enthusiasts and consumers from across the country. By expanding the trail, we can increase tourism and draw more visitors to the area than ever before.”
Under this legislation, the expansion would include the following state routes: route 32 from its intersection with route 17 in Washingtonville to the community of Vails Gate in the town of New Windsor; route 94 to route 9-W in the town of New Windsor; route 9-W to routes 44 and 55 in the community of Highland in the town of Lloyd; and routes 44 and 55 to its intersection with route 208 in the town of Gardiner.
