New York State Senator John J. Flanagan is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl Mills III as his new Counsel to the Senate Education Committee. Mr. Mills is a well seasoned graduate of Albany Law School and has worked as a member of Senator Flanagan’s staff for the past two years; first as a fellow in the New York State Graduate Fellowship program, and more recently as Special Counsel to the Senator.
During his employment with Senator Flanagan, Mr. Mills has sharpened his research, writing and analytical skills by working on a variety of critically important assignments that involved drafting legislation and legal memoranda, attending high level meetings and negotiations on budget issues and preparing briefing documents for committee meetings and floor debates.
Mr. Mills will assume the full duties and responsibilities of Counsel to the Education Committee as of November 2nd.
“In the time that Carl has been working in our office, he has become an integral member of our staff serving in many important capacities and demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to the highest work product,” stated Senator Flanagan. “In many ways, Carl has already been fulfilling the role of Counsel to the Education Committee with the caliber of work he produces and the professionalism he exhibits. Today is merely a formal announcement of Carl’s new position in our office which was well-earned and deserved. I look forward to receiving Carl’s wise counsel and valued input on education issues affecting New York State.”
In addition to the experience and skills developed while working for Senator Flanagan, Carl brings a wealth of varied legal experience from both the private and public sectors including his work for the New York State Department of State, the Research Foundation of the State University of New York and the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office.
