Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently welcomed student musicians from Long Island who received the honor of being selected to one of the New York State School Music Association's (NYSSMA) All-State jazz performing groups. The students were in the State Capital in Albany to perform in early March to kick off the National and State "Music in Our Schools Month" celebration.
Joining Senator Flanagan in Albany are (from left to right) Paul R. Infante, Suffolk County Music Educators' Association Government Relations Committee Co-Chairperson and Commack School District’s Director of Fine & Applied Arts; Jenna Giammalvo, All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble from Half Hollow Hills High School West; Colin Richardson, All-State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble from Huntington High School; Patricia Isenberg, Suffolk County Music Educators' Association President; and James Haefle, New York State School Music Association Zone 14 Representative.
