(New York, NY) - Senator Serrano marched in the 56th Annual Puerto Rican Day parade, which takes place along 5th Avenue in Manhattan. The parade, which is widely attended by over one million people of all nationalities, is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the history and culture of the Puerto Rican people.

"Our annual parade is a time when the eyes of the world are focused on the social and cultural contributions of people of Puerto Rican descent," said Senator Serrano. "It is always an honor to march in this parade, embrace our culture and be reminded of the offerings Puerto Ricans have made to New York, and across the entire country. Today, we all come together as one to honor those who are currently making strides in all disciplines, as well as those trailblazers who paved the way before us."

Senator Serrano marched in the parade along with his father, Congressman José E. Serrano, in addition to community leaders, elected officials, union members, performers and athletes, and  more than a million cheering residents along 5th Avenue.
