(East Harlem, NY)- Senator Serrano joined Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito's for the El Barrio/East Harlem Anti-Violence Youth-Led Peace March. Parents, families, schools and community-based organizations united in the call for peace in the community and more youth programs.
"This march is a testament to the community's determination to putting a stop to the relentless violence that has been destroying lives for far too long," said Senator Serrano. "Our youth is demanding more programs where they can spend their free time channeling their creativity and becoming more productive members of society. It is our responsibility to provide these positive outlets so that our youth can continue learning after the school day is over," concluded Serrano.
