Senator Serrano Sponsors Resolution Honoring the Life of Rev. Wenzell Jackson

(Albany, NY)-A Senate Resolution sponsored by State Senator José M. Serrano honoring the life and accomplishments of long-time clergy leader and Chairman of Bronx Community Board 4, Reverend Wenzell P. Jackson, passed the New York State Senate unanimously. The Resolution is also sponsored by Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson in the New York State Assembly.
"The Highbridge community has experienced a great loss in the sudden passing of Rev. Wenzell Jackson," said Senator Serrano. "Rev. Jackson had the ability to reach across all divides, brought our community together, mentored countless youth, and encouraged us all to serve as public servants for the betterment of society," continued Serrano.
Reverend Jackson served as the Senior Pastor at Mount Hermon Baptist Church for 10 years. During his tenure, he mentored Bronx youth, ensuring their educational success and increased involvement in community outreach. As Chairman of Community Board 4, Rev. Jackson used his intelligence and charisma to tackle many pressing issues facing his community.
"Reverend Wenzell Jackson will always be remembered for his compassionate spirit," said Senator Serrano. "He was a true public advocate with remarkable dedication to public service and to his beloved church. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this time of grief, and I know that his legacy will live on through the many lives he's encountered and touched," concluded Serrano.
