SENATOR MARCHIONE SEEKS NOMINEES FOR NEW YORK STATE VETERANS’ HALL OF FAME

Senator Marchione seeks nominees from the 43rd Senate District to be inducted into New York’s On-Line Veterans’ Hall of Fame to honor and recognize their service to a grateful nation, state and community

Senator Kathleen A. Marchione (R,C-Halfmoon) today invited residents throughout the 43rd Senate District – which includes parts of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington Counties and all of Columbia County – to nominate veterans as 2013 inductees into the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame.  The on-line Veterans’ Hall of Fame is designed to pay tribute – and honor the selfless service and personal sacrifice – of New York veterans whose courageous service in America’s Armed Forces is complemented by their service to the community.

The State Senate will honor a distinguished veteran from the 43rd Senate District, and also from each Senate District across the state, during a special recognition ceremony where each honoree’s photograph and biography will become part of a special on-line exhibit proclaiming the contributions, heroism, service and sacrifice of New York’s veterans.  The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 21 in Albany.  Senator Marchione will name one veteran residing within the 43rd Senate District as her 2013 nominee to the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame and will honor all local nominees during a special public recognition ceremony this summer.  Applications for the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame are due back to Senator Marchione’s office by Sunday, April 14, 2013.

“We say ‘thank you’ so much to our veterans because we can never say it enough.  Our veterans have risked life and limb, served far away, often in harm’s way, and have fought to defend our freedoms and protect our way of life.  We owe our veterans a debt of thanks that can never be fully repaid.  I am sponsoring the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame and seeking inductees whose commitment to our nation and service to our community are deserving of such a distinguished recognition,” Senator Marchione said.

The New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame – on-line at www.nysenate.gov/honoring-our-veterans – was launched in 2005 to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in the military and civilian life.  Their meritorious service to a grateful state and nation is fully deserving of special public recognition that only a Veterans’ Hall of Fame can provide, as a fitting expression of gratitude and admiration.

Editor’s Note: A New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame nomination form is attached with this news release.  Additional Veterans’ Hall of Fame nomination forms are available at Senator Marchione’s web page at www.marchione.nysenate.gov or by sending an e-mail to marchione@nysenate.gov.
