(Brooklyn, NY) “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone in Flatbush, East Flatbush, Midwood, Ditmas Park, Kensington, Windsor Terrace, Park Slope and the rest of Brooklyn.
Christmas is a special time of year where we remember that more than 2,000 years ago, a child born in a stable brought us the gift of peace and salvation. It is also the time of year where we are called upon to love our families, friends, neighbors and community as we love ourselves, because our destinies are linked. Or, to say it another way, we are our brother’s and sister’s keeper.
Please join me therefore in remembering and helping those among our community whose holidays may be a bit tougher than ours; and in praying for the safety and safe return of our troops serving us far away from the warmth of their families and community, and the family traditions we all share at this time of year. Join me in remembering those who may be struggling to get by alone, or with their families, and who may be out of work and seeking new opportunity.
Christmas is the time we remember these things, and it is the time when we sing together joyously and exchange gifts, and when we demonstrate our charity and compassion by helping our neighbors, and by serving our Creator as we serve others.
So, I wish you all Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas, and may God bless you all.”
