Last week, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Senator Lee M. Zeldin celebrated the accomplishments of several local Hispanic leaders and recognized them for the invaluable roles they play in our community.
The lively event featured performances by Traditiones De Me Tierra, a Traditional Ecuadorian Native Folk Dance Group, and the Central Islip High School Concert Choir. The Keynote Address was given by Briarcliffe Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Hubert Benitez, who was honored along with several others for the diverse ways in which they contribute to the community.
“These leaders have an important role to play in the advancement of our society and have proven to be indispensible assets in working towards our shared goals,” said Senator Zeldin. “I am incredibly proud to count them among our neighbors and to have the chance to honor them publicly for their contributions.”
