The second annual Northtowns E-Waste Recycling Event took place at Saint Andrew’s Country Day School and was deemed a success by the senator, who also serves as the chairman of the New York State Senate’s Environmental Conservation Committee.
“We must dispose of electronic waste safely and responsibly and this event gave residents of the Southtowns an opportunity to do that at no charge to taxpayers,” Senator Grisanti said. “We collected close to 75,000 pounds today and received many kind words from people who arrived in nearly 1,000 vehicles who came from Tonawanda, Kenmore, Buffalo and various other cities, towns and villages in the region. I was pleased that they were able to take advantage of this free opportunity to clean out their homes and offices and dispose of their old electronic materials safely.”
Time Warner Cable and City of Tonawanda Mayor Ron Pilozzi, who served as Senator Grisanti’s partners in today’s event, were also pleased with the turnout.
“Time Warner Cable was happy to partner with Senator Grisanti to host this event in Western New York, which provided a safe option for the disposal of unwanted electronics,” said Terence Rafferty, Regional Vice President of Operations at Time Warner Cable.
“It’s great to see everyone properly disposing of their unwanted electronics,” said Mayor Pilozzi. “Safely getting rid of this waste makes Tonawanda a cleaner, and more environmentally friendly community. I’d like to thank all those that helped this cause by coming out today.”
Today’s event marks the fourth free electronics recycling event that Senator Grisanti has sponsored in his district. Earlier this year the senator and representatives from SunnKing were in the Town of Hamburg, the Town of Grand Island and last year held an event in the Town of Tonawanda.
