"As chairman of the Environmental Conservation Committee, I applaud Governor Cuomo's recent announcement on his plans to streamline hunting and fishing licenses and reducing license fees. New York Open for Fishing and Hunting will support various tourism opportunities throughout the state, including here in Western New York.
I am particularly pleased that the amendments the Governor has proposed to his executive budget will reduce the fees paid by the hard working men and women of our region who enjoy spending time hunting and fishing. With the New York State Conservation Fund having a significant balance it is appropriate we look at returning the money sportsmen have contributed to this fund back to them, and a license fee reduction is the best way to do this.
The economic impact that hunting and fishing bring to New York is tremendous. The Governor's plan will make it easier for residents of our state to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities that exist."
