Brooklyn – State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), is announcing plans for Brooklyn’s 7th Annual Senior Idol, a contest that showcases the talent of the senior citizens of Kings County, hoping to be named “Brooklyn’s Senior Idol” this October.

Brooklyn residents age 50 or older are invited to audition on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Xaverian High School, 7100 Shore Road (handicapped accessibility available at 71st Street door). Senior citizens trying out for this singing competition should bring a CD or cassette tape accompaniment.

A panel of judges will select contestants from those who audition to compete on stage at the Senior Idol show, before family, friends and neighbors, scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The winner will be selected through the votes of the audience and the judges.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “Every year, Brooklyn’s Senior Idol attracts great talent and I am sure that this year will be the same. The show has become a very popular tradition, and each year, more and more fans show up to cheer on our contestants at the show. So if you can sing, be sure to try out. And if you want to see a great show, make plans to be with us on October 5th.”

Tickets are $10.00 and all money raised will benefit the Xaverian Music Department. For more information, contact Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044.
