Golden: Local Middle School Students Selected to Compete for “Senator for a Day”

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District) today
is announcing that the finalists have been selected in the 11th Annual
“Senator for a Day” contest. Earlier this year, Senator Golden asked 6th, 7
th, and 8th graders to participate in the contest by writing a 250-word
essay starting with the phrase, “If I Were A State Senator For A Day.”
The winning essays will be judged at a ceremony set for Friday, May
31, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Shore Hill Community Room, 9000 Shore Road, on
content and creativity. The first place winner will be invited with their
class to spend a day in the State Capitol in Albany.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “Every year, the essays submitted for
this contest get better and better. That is why I am looking forward to the
contest ceremony and getting a chance to hear the students present their
essays, and their ideas, on how best to keep our community a great place.
I am proud to have judges participating from our local media and from
Community Education Council District 20. They will have the tough work of
picking a winner!”.
