Brooklyn – Yesterday's event, billed as “Operation Seniors”, which offered prom season assistance for high school seniors affected by Super Storm Sandy, was a huge success, with over 60 students walking away with a prom dress, shoes, pocket books,. makeup and jewelry accessories. The free night of fashion and fun also featured free consultations with hairdressers and makeup artists.
Organization that donated to support the event included The Jones Group, MAC Cosmetics, Revlon, Synderela, Coloriffics, New York Dress Company, I Love Jewelry Auctions, Charles Elias Salon, Lucky New York Salon, Marine Florist & Classie Tuxedo. The Bay Ridge Manor hosted the event and provided use of the facility to "Operation Seniors" at no charge.
Senator Marty Golden stated, "I commend Mary Beth Bevacqua, who knows countless individuals who were affected by Superstorm Sandy, for organizing this event. Although I was in Albany, I am proud to have heard that this event gave many who have been through so much, something to smile about. My staff and I continue, working with the community and my colleagues in government to help our residents rebuild their lives piece by piece, and day by day."
