Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that through the efforts of his office, a new FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will officially open tomorrow morning in Sheepshead Bay at the Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club located at 3076 Emmons Avenue.
Senator Marty Golden stated, “My office and I have worked diligently over this past holiday weekend to have this site made handicapped accessible and sufficient to house a Disaster Recovery Center for the people of Sheepshead Bay and Southwest Brooklyn. It is important that the residents effected by Sandy have this opportunity to get the information and the answers they need as they continue to rebuild in the wake of this storm.”
Senator Golden continued, “I thank all the volunteers as well who helped to get this site ready to operate officially tomorrow and I thank the Yacht Club for allowing use of their space. The people who will be aided by the staff at this site will be forever grateful to all those who have made this possible. It may be a new year, and for many, the storm may be just a memory of the year past, but let us not forget that so many people are still dealing every day with what Sandy has left behind.”
Senator Golden, who was recently named to the Hurricane Sandy Task Force of the New York State Senate, today toured portions of Long Island effected by the storm. Senator Golden has and continues to work with residents of his district effected by the storm and has hosted a series of town hall meetings to help Brooklyn residents recover.
