Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today has issued the following statement regarding the B 37 bus route:
"I am very encouraged to learn that at next week’s MTA Board Meeting, the restoration of the B 37 bus route will be among the agenda items. Since it was taken out of service in June 2010, I have never given up the fight, and the hope, that we will again see buses rolling along 3rd Avenue. I will continue to work with my colleagues in government, and with Metropolitan Transit Authority officials, to improve both local and express bus service.”
Senator Golden filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transit Authority in the wake of the termination of the B 37 bus route. The lawsuit cited the community needs for such service due to and the lack of elevator friendly subway stations, that prevent handicapped and seniors from traveling in Brooklyn.
Senator Marty Golden is a member of the MTA Capital Review Board.
