Senator Golden Encourages Residents in Need of Superstorm Sandy Assistance to Visit New Fema Disaster Recovery Center in Gerritsen Beach

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is encouraging residents in need of Superstorm Sandy assistance to visit the new FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opened earlier this week at the Gerritsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department Training Hall located at 43 Seba Avenue. The Center is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Senator Golden is also announcing plans to host two follow up town hall meetings in an continued effort to aid those effected by the storm in the communities of Sheepshead Bay, Gerritsen Beach and Manhattan Beach. The meetings are set for Wednesday, January 16 at 7 p.m., at the Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club at 3076 Emmons Avenue, and on Thursday, January 24th at 7 p.m. at Public School 277 located at 2529 Gerritsen Avenue.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “My office continues to work each and every day to help the people of my district recover and rebuild from the damage left behind by Sandy. This Center and these town halls will further allow the residents the important opportunity of getting individual attention to their concerns and needs. The ultimate goal here is to do everything in our power to get people back in their homes and receive the proper level of financial assistance.”

Senator Golden, who was recently named to the Hurricane Sandy Task Force of the New York State Senate, recently toured portions of Long Island effected by the storm. A similar tour will be conducted in areas effected in Brooklyn and Staten Island later this month.
