Gallivan Announces Major Infrastructure Projects in Erie County Moving Forward

Routes 219 and 400 Will Undergo Significant Improvements

ERIE COUNTY - State Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma), a member of the Senate's transportation committee, today announced nearly $21 million in improvement investments for key highway construction projects across southern Erie County. The investment will be funded through the New York Works State Highway and Bridge Project Acceleration Program, which was approved as part of this year's enacted state budget.

Specifically, the state will invest $9.6 million toward removing and replacing 14 miles of Route 219’s road surface stretching from Route 391 in the Town of Boston to Route 39 in the Town of Concord.

Gallivan announced two additional projects as part of the State Highway and Bridge Acceleration Program. The bridge carrying Route 400 over Route 240 (Harlem Road) in the Town of West Seneca will undergo a $7 million replacement, while a full re-pavement will take place along eight miles of Route 400 from its intersection with I-90 in West Seneca to Pound Road in the Town of Elma.

“Improving and enhancing infrastructure projects in Western New York have been a top priority of mine in the Senate,” Gallivan said. “Ensuring our roads and bridges are modern and safe will improve vehicular traffic and bolster existing economic development efforts in the region.”

In Region 5 of the New York State Department of Transportation, which encompasses Niagara, Erie, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties, the total project investment from the acceleration program will be $45.96 million
