Gallivan Announces Rifle Hunting Now Permanent in Wyoming County

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) announced today that Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has signed legislation (S.3757-A/A5832-A) to make the provisions of a 2011 law allowing rifle hunting in Wyoming County permanent.

“Hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation are important parts of Western New York’s cultural history and equally important to our area economy. My first piece of legislation passed in the Senate was to allow rifle hunting in Wyoming County and today I am pleased to announce that we have made that law permanent. Local sportsmen have been long sought for rifle hunting to have a permanent place in Wyoming County and I am proud to have delivered it this year.”

Gallivan was the original author of the 2011 law that first allowed the taking of large game with a rifle in Wyoming County.

This bill was sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblyman Dave DiPietro. It will take effect immediately.
