Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway Legislation Passes Senate Unanimously

Gallivan Bill Seeks To Designate Part Of Route 20A In Honor Of Area Vets

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I - 59th District) announced this week that the New York State Senate passed legislation (S.4752 - Gallivan) to designate a portion of State Route 20A in Livingston County as the “Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway.” The portion to be designated begins at State Route 20A’s intersection with Route I-390 and continues west to Livingston County’s border with Wyoming County.

 “All Americans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women who have worn the uniforms of the United States Armed Forces,” Senator Gallivan said. “Livingston County men and women have a proud tradition of defending this nation and its freedom, dating from the days of the revolution through history to recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope a new Memorial Highway will serve as both a reminder and a tribute to their service.”

The legislation still needs approval in the Assembly and the signature of Governor Cuomo before taking effect.

The designated span will connect with 16 miles in Wyoming County that has been previously been designated the “Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway.”
