State Senator Patty Ritchie honored several former Oswego County public servants at a special presentation made during the May 9th Oswego County Legislature meeting.
Ritchie presented official Senate Resolutions to the families of the late County Clerk George Williams, as well as County Legislators Art Ospelt, Mary Flett and Paul Santore, for their years of service to Oswego County.
“It was truly an honor to work personally with each of these individuals—in government and out—to make Central New York a better place,” said Senator Ritchie.
“The time, effort and dedication to improving Oswego County is without measure. This was just a very small way of saying “thank you” for the work that they have done over a great many years.”
George Williams, formerly of Constantia, served as Oswego County Clerk for more than 30 years. During his time as County Clerk, he served as president of the New York State County Clerk’s Association. At the May 9th event, Senator Ritchie presented the Senate Resolution honoring Mr. Williams to his wife, Norma.
Art Ospelt served as Schroeppel Town Supervisor for twenty years, until 1990, when he was appointed Oswego County Administrator. He served on the Oswego County Legislature from 2000 until he passed away in 2012.
Representing the city of Oswego, as well as parts of Scriba, Mary Flett served on the Oswego County Legislature from 2008 until she passed away in 2012. In addition to serving on the legislature, she also served as a City Councilor from 1993 to 1997.
Paul Santore served on the Oswego County Legislature for eight years. In addition to serving on the legislature, Mr. Santore was also a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1961 to 1964.
