The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has named Senator Phil Boyle to a list of the state’s most promising new environmental leaders.
Senator Boyle represents the 4th District on the South Shore of Long Island, spanning from Bohemia, to Islip, Babylon, Deer Park, Brentwood, parts of Fire Island and Gilgo State Park.
NYLCV’s New Generation 2013 list encompasses 13 lawmakers who were recently elected to the New York State Legislature. Working in conjunction with the leadership of both houses and political parties, these up-and-coming leaders promise to be a driving force for clean air, safe drinking water, renewable energy and community resilience this year.
“From climate change to clean energy, New York faces many complex environmental challenges in 2013,” said NYLCV President Marcia Bystryn. “Fortunately, there is a new generation of environmental leadership in the New York State Senate and Assembly that is committed to addressing these challenges head-on. Because of his impressive track record and plan for a more sustainable future, we are proud to count State Senator Phil Boyle among our New Generation 2013.”
In response to the news, Senator Boyle said: "I am honored to be among the list of "emerging green leaders" named by the New York League of Conservation Voters. I look forward to working with my fellow legislators and the NYLCV to advance legislation protecting our state's fragile environment. There is no higher priority."
NYLCV's New Generation 2013 list examines each of the 13 lawmakers' biographies, their achievements, their records and their environmental philosophies. Along with this information, NYLCV has posted the candidates' environmental questionnaires that they completed last year. The questionnaires provide detailed insights on specific policies, including each candidate’s commitment to clean energy, the Environmental Protection Fund and public health.
NYLCV is the only statewide organization that uses the power of endorsements to elect pro-environment leaders. Every member of NYLCV's New Generation 2013 earned NYLCV's endorsement in their election last year.
