Senator Phil Boyle And Local Boy Scouts Host Food Drive; Community's Generosity Provides 806 Meals, Helping Local Food Pantries

Bay Shore, NY - Senator Phil Boyle (R-Bay Shore) teamed up with the Town of Islip Boy Scouts to host a food drive aimed at helping to replenish the badly depleted supplies in local food banks.  Hundreds of community members joined in the effort, bringing donations to the ShopRite of Bay Shore at 1905 Sunrise Highway between 10:00AM and 2:00PM on Saturday, June 8th.

“Rising costs have more and more people turning to services like our local food pantries to make ends meet,” Senator Boyle said.  “A special thanks to Boy Scout Troop 205 of East Islip and Troop 43 of Bay Shore and for all of the community support we received today.  We appreciated all those who stopped by our booth and so generously donated food and supplies for our neighbors in need.”

Enough food and monetary donations were collected for 806 meals to be distributed to local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and child nutritional programs.  Long Island Cares, Inc., one of the region’s most comprehensive hunger action organizations, was on hand and aided in the distribution of the food that was collected.
