West Babylon, NY - Senator Phil Boyle (R-Bay Shore) recently joined with Cablevision in sponsoring the Internet Smarts program at the West Babylon Jr. High School in an effort to help protect students from the dangers of the internet.
“In today’s digital world, it is vital that young people treat one another with respect and fully understand that irresponsible online behavior can have devastating repercussions,” Senator Phil Boyle said. “I am proud to be part of this shared effort to spread awareness about the dangers of the Internet and the real threats facing our children today.”
The Internet Smarts program educates students about internet safety and how devastating cyberbullying can be to its victims. It also provides students with the necessary resources and knowledge to safely navigate the web, emphasizing responsible online behavior.
At the event, West Babylon Jr. High School students explored Internet safety by sharing innovative presentations. Student members of the Mock Trial Team and SOS Club at West Babylon Jr. High School were recognized at the event and are now certified as “Internet Smart.” As part of the program, participating students, along with Senator Boyle, signed a pledge to “Delete Cyberbullying.”
